- HiBit Technologies was established in 1981 as a software concern. In the early days of personal computers very little application software existed. HiBit took advantage of this need in the market and developed custom-made software systems for customers in the wholesale, retail, industrial and even agricultural sectors.
- In 1987 the business was converted to and registered as a closed corporation.
- During 1988 we saw the need for Point of Sale applications and developed one of the first Point of Sale applications in the country. Since then the HiPOS software has grown through the continued input and needs of customers to become the sophisticated system that it is today.
- After consultation by our marketing consultants, we changed the name of our core package to RetailWize during 2010.
- The RetailWize system has stood the test of time and competition over a period of more than 30 years and through continued development can today be utilised by a wide segment of the market from wholesale, retail, manufacturing and virtually any other enterprise that invoices inventory or services. We have also developed production modules and modules to function in the meat industry such as deboning and abatoir facilities with the ability to do point of origin tracking.
- The RetailWize system is today installed in businesses such as supermarkets, wholesalers, cash and carries, bottle stores, agri retailers, hardware stores, book stores, electronic repair shops, florists, smaller country hotels, fast-food outlets, reataurants, butcheries etc.
- The system is installed throughout the Republic of South Africa from Mussina in the north, Cape town in the south, Whiteriver and Nelspruit in the east, Mmabatho in the north west an various places in the Free state. We also have installations in other southern African countries including Swaziland, Botswana and Namibië.
- Apart form the existing POS system we also do custom made programming for our customers to adapt the system to their specific needs.
